When you stand before the Holy Judge, will you be found innocent or guilty? Because God is a Holy Judge He cannot overlook sin. Sin is anything we do that breaks God’s Law.

The Bible tells us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23. Do you doubt this? Have you ever lied? What do you call someone who lies? A liar. Have you ever stolen anything–small or big? What do you call someone who steals? A thief. Have you ever looked at someone who is not your spouse and lusted? Jesus explains that this is committing adultery in your heart. See Matthew 5:28. These are only three of the Ten Commandments, and in James 2:10 we learn that even if we have only broken one of God’s commandments we are guilty. If you are sitting on a swing with ten chain links and one link breaks, you fall. All of us have fallen.

All of us have sinned, and as this next verse explains, we are facing the death sentence.
For the wages of sin is death … Romans 6:23a. Wages are what we earn, and we have earned death for our sin.

Thankfully God is not only holy and just, He is also wise and loving. And He made a way for any and all of us to be forgiven. How? By paying the penalty for us. Consider this: If you had a speeding ticket, how can the law be satisfied? You pay the fine. But what if you drove 75 mph in a 5 mph Blind Children’s Convention. The fine is $1 Million! And you do not have enough money to pay it, so you will be sentenced to jail. Just before the Judge sentences you, another person steps forward and offers to pay the $1 Million. If you accept that payment on your behalf, you walk free. It’s legal. The law requires that the fine be paid, but it does not have to be paid by you.

This is what JESUS did for us. Our sin separates us from God and condemns us to hell. We cannot pay for our sin because God requires a perfect sacrifice/payment. We need a substitute. JESUS, the perfect Lamb of God, shed His blood to wash us clean–but we have to accept His payment on our behalf. We have to admit that we need Him.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: John 1:12.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

Are you ready to surrender being the boss of your life and give yourself to God and receive His Son as your savior and Lord? Do it today! [N]ow is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2
